A Fortified Wine
As it's close to Christmas, this week we shall be tasting fortified wines - Port, Sherry, Madeira, Marsala and Vermouth. Fortified wines have added to them a distilled spirit, usually brandy. This process increases the alcohol content (typically to 15-20% ABV) and can also affect the sweetness and flavour profile of the wine. Read more
