Pinotage is a red wine grape variety developed in South Africa in 1925 by crossing Pinot Noir and Cinsault (known locally as Hermitage), which resulted in the name "Pinotage". It is South Africa's signature grape and produces medium to full-bodied wines known for flavours of dark fruit (like blackberry and plum), with earthy, smoky, and spicy notes.
